Continuing our commitment to our Nation's Heroes.
June 23, 2020
On June 23, 2020, Segway announced they are permanently stopping the production of the I2 and X2 Segway PT devices.
The impact upon the Segs4Vets program is profound. While we are still in the process of assessing the overall impact, we have through the acquisition of new devices today and in March bolstered our ability to provide mid to long-term support to our existing ALLY Chair users.
It is our intention to immediately suspend issuing new devices, including ALLY Chairs. We had resumed training and award activities this month after suspending them in March due to Covid-19 safety precautions.
From a funding perspective, our need to continue to raise money could not be higher. While we are very well managed financially the impact of Covid 19 on 2020 funding has been significant. In the past, we often were able to replace a malfunctioning device with a new one at a much lower price than repairing it.
Now it will need to be repaired at a significantly higher cost.
As we continue to develop our pathway forward and our opportunities with Segway become clearer we will advise everyone.
